After 50 years of playing other people's instruments, Woody and the guys at Old School decided it was time to introduce a line of US designed and assembled guitars that embodied the sound, feel and quality of the pre-assembly line instruments of the 1960's. We started off with our spruce-topped mahogany sides and back 6-string acoustic reminiscent in both sound and feel of a 1960-style Martin guitar.

We then expanded the line to include rosewood sides and back in both dreadnaught and cutaway. However, Woody's favorite throughout his career has always been an all-maple guitar, and so, we introduced an all-flamed maple acoustic or acoustic/electric dreadnaught and cutaway. For those who like the warmer sounds of dark woods, we also offer an all-satin cedar; and no line would be complete without a spruce-topped 12-string with Agathis sides and back.

Our models come in three basic lines:

  • The Apprentice , for those people just beginning their journey to learn guitar through the lower mid-range player;
  • The Journeyman , built for those players who are competent through the lower ranks of performing; and
  • The Master Player , for those people who recognize their guitar as a production tool used to perform at the highest level.
